Overview

The Fenggu Open RABS (Restricted Access Barrier System) surrounds an aseptic filling or processing line with a rigid physical barrier and positive-pressure Grade A laminar airflow, separating the operator in the surrounding background environment from the critical zone. Unlike a fully closed isolator, an open RABS exchanges air with the surrounding cleanroom rather than fully sealing the process, which suits lines that need more frequent operator intervention while still holding Grade A conditions over the product.

Operators reach into the critical zone through sealed glove ports rather than opening the barrier, so the risk of contamination from human presence is greatly reduced compared with an open cleanroom line. The rigid SUS304 construction and defined air overspill design keep the barrier's protective airflow pattern stable through normal line operation and intervention.

Key Features

  • Grade A / ISO 5 unidirectional laminar airflow over the entire critical filling zone
  • Positive-pressure barrier with controlled air overspill into the surrounding Grade B/C background
  • Rigid SUS304 barrier construction with glove-port access for routine intervention
  • Suited to lines requiring frequent operator interaction while holding Grade A conditions
  • Integrates with existing filling-line layouts and background cleanroom HVAC
  • HEPA supply-air filtration, PAO-tested ≥ 99.9990% @ 0.3 μm

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Open RABS and how does it differ from an isolator?
An Open RABS (Restricted Access Barrier System) surrounds an aseptic line with a rigid barrier and positive-pressure Grade A laminar airflow, separating the operator from the critical zone. Unlike a fully closed isolator, an open RABS shares the surrounding Grade B background and is a lower-cost route to enhanced aseptic assurance.
What airflow and cleanliness does it maintain?
Grade A / ISO 5 unidirectional laminar flow at 0.36-0.54 m/s work-face velocity, with positive-pressure controlled air overspill and PAO-tested filters of 99.9990% or better at 0.3 micron.
What background environment does an open RABS need?
It needs a Grade B background room, because it is an open (not sealed) barrier; operator intervention is through sealed glove ports.
What construction and controls does it use?
SUS304 rigid barrier, liquid-tank or mechanical-compression seals, and LCD fan on/off and speed control (touchscreen optional); noise 65 dB(A) or less.
