Like milling, screening is a dusty operation &mdash; and when the powder is a potent API, every point where it is exposed has to be contained. With a potent compound, that means operator exposure risk at four points in particular: <strong>charging<\/strong> powder onto the sieve, <strong>access to the sieve deck<\/strong>, <strong>discharging<\/strong> the sifted product, and &mdash; the one most often underestimated &mdash; <strong>screen changeover and cleaning<\/strong>. The right containment level follows the compound&#8217;s potency band; see <a href=\"\/ru\/oeb-oel-containment-levels\/\">OEB and OEL Explained<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Contained sieving approaches<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Enclose the sieve in a negative-pressure isolator.<\/strong> For potent compounds, mounting the sifter inside a <a href=\"\/ru\/products\/dispensing-containment-isolator-oeb5\/\">containment isolator<\/a> keeps dust in and lets the operator work through glove ports. A negative pressure regime ensures any leakage is inward &mdash; see the <a href=\"\/ru\/products\/negative-pressure-isolator\/\">\u0418\u0437\u043e\u043b\u044f\u0442\u043e\u0440 \u0441 \u043e\u0442\u0440\u0438\u0446\u0430\u0442\u0435\u043b\u044c\u043d\u044b\u043c \u0434\u0430\u0432\u043b\u0435\u043d\u0438\u0435\u043c<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Charge and discharge closed.<\/strong> Feed the sieve through an <a href=\"\/ru\/products\/alpha-beta-split-butterfly-valve\/\">alpha-beta split butterfly valve<\/a> or from within the isolator, and collect the sifted product into a closed liner or container through a split valve or continuous liner.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Plan for the screen change.<\/strong> Changing or cleaning the mesh is the biggest exposure point, because it opens the powder path. Do it through gloves inside the isolator, or specify a contained, quick-clean sieve designed for tool-free screen removal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Dust, static and explosion risk<\/h2>\n<p>Fine powders carry a dust-explosion risk. A low minimum ignition energy (MIE) calls for inert-gas (usually nitrogen) protection, together with proper earthing and bonding of the sieve to dissipate static. A filtered vent should balance the pressure created as air is displaced during charging and discharge, rather than letting the enclosure pressurize.<\/p>\n<h2>Cleaning and filtration<\/h2>\n<p>Where the geometry allows, a CIP\/WIP pre-clean or wetting comes first, followed by dismantling and manual cleaning of the screens and smaller removable parts &mdash; consider whether that manual step itself needs ventilated protection. Any exhaust filter is typically HEPA-grade and must allow safe change through <a href=\"\/ru\/products\/bibo-filter-housing\/\">Bag-In\/Bag-Out (BIBO)<\/a> or a push-push method, so a loaded filter is never handled openly.<\/p>\n<h2>Selection considerations<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Scale of operation &mdash; R&amp;D or production?<\/li>\n<li>Potency band (OEB) and the containment target it sets.<\/li>\n<li>Throughput, screen mesh size, and whether the process is dry or wet.<\/li>\n<li>Agglomerate handling &mdash;
