Hydrogen peroxide inactivates microorganisms through oxidative damage to cellular components, including proteins and DNA. VHP is active against vegetative bacteria, bacterial spores, fungi and viruses; published literature reports activity against organisms including MRSA, VRE, <em>Klebsiella pneumoniae<\/em>, <em>Clostridium botulinum<\/em> spores, <em>Clostridioides difficile<\/em>, <em>Mycobacterium tuberculosis<\/em>, rotavirus and influenza virus, but organism-specific efficacy must be established by the project validation protocol and report. The mobile unit is widely used in pharmaceutical, disease-control, medical, laboratory animal and research settings. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen, and adequate aeration reduces the residual concentration to the specified release limit; under controlled, non-condensing conditions the process is designed for good compatibility with many materials, instruments and electronic components, subject to confirmation for the actual load.
